Responsibilities: Communications Coordinator, Events and Programs Committee
Qualifications: Tyler‘s professional background is in journalism and communications. His current work at The Nature Conservancy focuses on expanding and improving the organization’s primary science Web site, ConservationGateway.org, and he works on developing improved information management systems and business processes across the organization. Previously, he lived in southern Africa for five-and-a-half years while working as a journalist (reporting in South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana and Congo for IRIN News, Men’s Journal magazine, Saveur magazine, others) and then as a communications specialist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s HIV/AIDS program in South Africa. He also worked as a newspaper journalist (reporter, editor, photographer, critic in Austin, TX and Denver, CO) and maintained a freelance writing career for national and international magazines (NYT Book Review, Field & Stream, others). When he’s not working, he’s fishing, running, hunting, and camping in some combination.
