We firmly believe that anyone can be a Flyathlete. If you are mildly curious about fly fishing, can cover a decent distance in an ample amount of time, like to drink beer and/or whiskey, and care enough about native fish to raise a little money for them, you too can be a Flyathlete...
But it takes an exceptional Flyathlete to land in our Hall of Fame. There are only a handful of ways to do this. You must win a race, catch the biggest or smallest fish, or be among the top fundraisers. That's it. (Unless you win the Backwoods Bastard award, the criteria for which are mysterious...).
