Event Description: The Inaugural NASCARP Davis Ponds Cup takes place at Staunton State Park on a Saturday in June. Teams of two drivers (and their pit crews) assemble at the Davis Ponds Picnic Area, stake out their pit areas, listen to a brief welcome and rules review, and then the first driver of each team is sent off following the waving of the green flag!
Drivers will follow flags to run an approximately 1 mile loop course (see course graphic below) before returning to the Davis Ponds "pit area" where the each team's drivers will fish until they catch / release a fish (using proper Keep Fish Wet protocol). Once the fish has been safely released, the first driver will refuel and then hold the empty refueling vessel upside-down (with minimal spillage) to release their teammate for Lap #2. Drivers on each team will alternate until 6 laps have been run, 6 fish caught / released, and 6 refueling beverages have been consumed. The first team to finish in each Division will be crowned champion and showered with glory. Divisions will include Unleaded (non-alcoholic refueling beverages) and Leaded (alcoholic refueling beverages).

What is the point of NASCARP- Davis Ponds Cup?
Aside from creating a fun team Flyathlon environment, the Davis Ponds Cup raises money for Greenback cutthroat trout conservation. During registration, we will ask our NASCARP teams to commit to recruiting "team sponsors" and hitting a minimum fundraising threshold, in part through those sponsorships. We envision that our teams will have great fun with this portion of the event by creating team-specific sponsor-emblazoned NASCARP-style pit shirts.
