Course Name: Macey Creek
Distance: 7.06 miles
Vertical Gain: 1161 feet
Fishable Waterbody: Macey Creek (and Horn Creek for that matter)
Course Description: This course begins at the lower Horn Creek trailhead parking lot and heads uphill approximately 1/2 mile before intersecting the Rainbow Trail. Turn right on the Rainbow Trail and run another gradually up half mile until you reach a bridge crossing Horn Creek. There are fish in Horn Creek, but the fishing is a little tricky even the dense riparian vegetation. Continue south on the Rainbow Trail over another 2.5 miles of mostly gentle (but sometimes decidedly less than gentle) uphill until you reach the bridge crossing Macey Creek (3.5 miles from the trailhead). There is a nice pool about 15 yards downstream of there bridge that is loaded with brook trout and cutthroat trout. If you spook that pool, continue downstream into the woods where there are a few additional easy opportunities to pick up a quick fish. Once you catch and release said fish, pack up your crap and head back to the trailhead via one of the most fun downhill cruisers in the Sangres.
