Katie Mazzia
Responsibilities: General oversight of business and affairs of Running Rivers.
Qualifications: Katie’s a California girl turned Ohioan (12 years—Go Buckeyes) who now calls Colorado home (33 years). She started spin fishing with her dad, but her son taught her the art of fly fishing—Euronymphing with his custom flies is her go to technique!
By day, Katie is a hospital-based clinical dietitian and diabetes educator; she advocates for nutrition that minimally impacts the environment and always has homemade snacks to share! When she’s not working, you’ll find her XC skiing, snowboarding, trail running, or chasing fish. Though she has a competitive spirit, taking 2nd place at her first Flyathlon (2016 Lake Fork, snowstorm!), she is more energized by volunteering. One of the most rewarding experiences was building a beaver dam analog (aka BDA—look it up!). She’s a passionate advocate for conservation, aiming to honor the legacy of the veteran board members who’ve shaped it into what it is today. Katie's crazy accomplishments include several Flyathlon wins, six-time Troutwoman, a one-time Ültroüt, and a couple of Fish Slaps. She's a total OG Golden Girl.
